丑八怪

丑 = 二 + 刀 : Charlie Chaplin (ch) finds a very ugly (丑) ox (丑) in the outhouse (ou3) and decides to destroy it with a cleaver (刀) because it is so ugly. He'll soon notice that the ox has been hooked up to a charged capacitor (二) so that anyone trying to damage it will be shocked.

八 = 丿 + ㇏ : Mnemonic symbol: an eight-ball.

Beelzebub (b-) wants to find new ways to lure people into playing pool billiard. To this end he is meditating on top of an eight-ball (八) in front of the Ashram (a1). He uses a finger (㇏) and a banana (丿) as incense to create the right atmosphere.

怪 = 圣 + 忄 : Gitta Giraffe meets Father Christmas in the airplane's bathroom. She finds it rather bewildering that instead of a sack full of presents he holds a big flail. He also looks kind of grumpy, almost like a big monster.
