國際象棋

国 = 囗 + 玉 : Mnemonic symbol: a nation's flag. Let's say the Chinese flag.

In the observatory's kitchen (o2) Gitta Giraffe (gu) is practising her ballet performance. She got a whole crate (囗) full of jade bracelets (玉) and flags (国) and fixed one flag to each jade bracelet. This makes a perfect combination for throwing the ring with the flag waving behind it and catching the ring again after a few pirouettes.

际 = 示 + 阝 : Joan of Arc (ji) and the pope (阝) have an international (际) meeting in the space station's bathroom (Ø4). They decide on the border through the bathroom and mark their territories using standards (示).

象 = ⺈ + 口 + 豕 : Mnemonic symbol: I already used an ordinary elephant for 勹, which is fine, because 勹 appears many times and 象 only a few times. Thus to represent 象 I'll use a locomotive from 1844's Austria, which was called "KFNB Elephant".

象 = ⺈ + 口 + 豕 : Marie Curie sees the crane and the swine fight about a single mandarin in the anglepod's bathroom. To smooth down the differences, with a locomotive she drives a whole container of mandarins in the bathroom.

棋 = 其 + 木 : The Queen of Hearts (qi) got a little bored on the space station, so she started to play a game of chess (棋) against herself just inside the entrance (Ø2). She was so bored that she also invented new figures like the Christmas tree (木). It moves like the watchtower (其), but with each move it has a 1d20 chance to randomly distribute presents on the board.
