早 = 十 + 日 : Mnemonic symbol: your very own annoying alarm clock going off in the morning.

The sun (日) is rising above Zorro's (z) alarm clock (早) in the aorta's living room (ao3), but Zorro just smashs it with a big cross (十).

昔 = 井 + 日 : Mnemonic symbol: From 奶昔, milkshake

In former times (昔), at the end of the day the sun (日) used to go down in a well (井) in front of the space station (Ø1). Xi Shi (xi) made the sun go out by pouring a milk shake (mnemonic symbol for 昔) over it.

旧 = 丨 + 日 : In the year 2076 Joan of Arc (ji) and the sun (日) meet again in the outhouse's bathroom (ou4). They are both very old (旧) and have to use dinosaur bones (丨) as crooks.

旺 = 日 + 王 : Willy Walrus (w) and Martin Luther King Jr. (王) are living a prosperous (旺) and flourishing (旺) life in the anglepod's bathroom (ang4). They are enjoying the sun (日) shining just for them every day.

旱 = 日 + 干 : Mnemonic symbol: a marmot, 旱獭 (han4 ta3).

Hamlet (h) used the drought (旱) to dry fruits (干) under the sun (日) in the anthill's bathroom (an4), but the marmot (旱) secretly stole and ate all the dried fruits.

旱 = 日 + 干 : This character provides a mnemonic on its own: the sun (日) dries out (干) the land, leading to a drought (旱).

香 = 日 + 禾 : Mnemonic symbol from 香草, spices.

Just as the sun is not looking Marie Curie plays a prank on her in front of the anglepod and puts some spices in her bowl of cereals.

智 = 日 + 知 : In the space station's bathroom (Ø4), the sun (日), Francis Bacon (知) and James II of England (zh) are competing for who's the most knowledgeable of them. They all present each other their smartphones (智能) on which they use apps to determine their IQ (智商). In the end it turns out that they are all retarded (弱智).

替 = 夫 + 夫 + 日 : Mother Teresa (ti) wants to replace (替) the sun (日) to become the center of the universe. In the space station's bathroom (Ø4) she instructs two construction workers (夫夫) to throw her right towards the sun, so that Mother Teresa can box her out of orbit.

昧 = 日 + 未 : Mahatma Gandhi (m) wants to give the kids of an orphanage the sun (日) as a Christmas present, but he wants to keep it secret, so he asks Ai Weiwei (未) to conceal (昧) the sun for him in the Eiffel Tower's bathroom (ei4). Naturally, with the sun hidden, it gets quite dark (昧).

明 = 日 + 月 : A searchlight. Together with the moon, Marilyn Monroe is looking for the sun just inside the engine's kitchen. To make the search easier they use a searchlight.
